St. Joseph Parish Lenten Project
As last year’s Parish Lenten project, we helped furnish the Hispanic Ministry trailer in Canton. We as a community gave our time, talents and treasure to greatly enhance the Hispanic Ministry of Canton.
This year as a parish we have the opportunity to honor Pope Francis and help a family in need of a decent place to live through a special Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area build. An anonymous donor has offered to fund a Habitat house for a low-income family needing a safe, decent place to live. The donor’s stipulations are that the donor remains anonymous, $40,000 be raised in the Jackson area and the house must be built in honor of Pope Francis. The Social Concerns Committee has chosen to be part of this fund-raising project. Please consider supporting this project, helping a family live safely and joining Pope Francis in his call for a more just and compassionate world.
The Social Concerns Committee will have envelopes for you as you leave mass for the next two weeks culminating on Palm Sunday. Your donations will be represented by symbolic bricks that we will use to construct our cardboard house. You can see it being built with your donations.
Thank you for your generous support.
